STEM Whole School Support and Guide

STEM Whole School Support and Guide.

This is a guide that I created a number of years ago when I was the Lead teacher for Design and Technology in my school in the UK. In school teachers used it to guide and support their planning and organisation when incorporating STEM into the classroom. We tended to have a STEM week once a term where the focus of the week was dedicated to using STEM skills to create something new: mechanism, electrical control, textile, structure or food technology. It was a lovely way to incorporate STEM inquiry and processes into the whole school. DT incorporated the skills needed for STEM activities. It was a stand alone subject and something that I feel very passionate about. Although it is not a stand alone subject here in Ireland, it is becoming more popular and it’s benefits in primary schools are now more widely known. I have added to this guide and adapted it to suit an Irish classroom.

This Bundle includes the following:

Planning and Reflection template for STEM activities in the classroom.

Activity ideas and objectives for 1st and 2nd Class, progression of skills, I can self and teacher assessment statements.

Activity ideas and objectives for 3rd and 4th Class, progression of skills, I can self and teacher assessment statements.

Activity ideas and objectives for 5th and 6th Class, progression of skills, I can self and teacher assessment statements.
